Dear Shadow Creek Ranch Homeowners and Residents,
We would like to provide an important update regarding the installation of the new elevated tandem slide structure at the Village of Diamond Bay pool facility.
First, we regret the extended delay in opening this facility. We appreciate the attraction of the unique play structures for families, and of course the proximity of the facility for our Village of Diamond Bay homeowners. At the onset of this project in the fall of 2024, the slide manufacturer, Vortex Aquatic Structures International, and the installation contractor were confident that construction could and would be completed prior to the start of the 2025 pool season on May 24, 2025.
Regrettably, as we approached May 24th it became clear that we would miss the pool season by about a week due to repeated labor delays. Then, as the contractor was nearing completion of the slide structure, a critical error in the size of a component was discovered, which halted construction entirely. Vortex is an established leader in the field of aquatic play structures, so this dilemma was highly unusual. The contractor reached out to Vortex engineering to request information and input on the critical component error. The Vortex team took several weeks to fully review the plans and parts onsite to develop a course for corrective action.
We are happy to report that any known issues have been resolved and that construction resumed with the expectation of completing it by this weekend. Once the structure is complete, there will be post-construction corrective work around the slide installation area and a City of Pearland inspection. No remaining minor detail work, including landscaping, will affect opening the pool facility. Another update will be sent once an opening date can be confirmed, but our goal is to open in the next few weeks.
Please be assured that the Association is working to open the pool facility as quickly as possible. Legal counsel has been engaged to enforce accountability and remind the parties involved that time is of the essence. The Association is also working with your lifeguard vendor on the feasibility of extending weekend hours for the Waterpark past pool season to make up for some of the lost time during the last couple of weeks. We will update you once we know more.
Your continued patience and understanding is appreciated as we work to ensure a safe, high-quality amenity for the community. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at help@shadowcreekranchhoa.com.
